Session 4 Resources
Tech Liberation: Resisting Technofascism & Building Counterpower

In this new session, we confront technofascism -- the political project of tech oligarchy. It surveils, extracts, dispossesses and controls, from Palestine to Canada. In the North, control hides under the guise of convenience, safety and innovation. In the Global South, it is unabashedly violent, tested, perfected, and funded by the North, before it's normalized everywhere else.
These are not separate struggles. They are one system. And our liberation is bound up in each other's.
Together we'll see the system, connect the struggles, and map the tools of counterpower: tech sovereignty, platform cooperatives, the solidarity stack, open source, data trusts, worker organizing, reclaimed attention. We'll finally imagine liberatory futures rooted in alternatives already being built.
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain a holistic understanding of technofascism and how it fuels struggles far beyond tech
- Map the tools of counterpower and how to feasibly wield them
- Leave with concrete options for resistance at individual and collective scales
- Counter Big Tech's monoculture of imagined futures by envisioning sovereign, cooperative tech futures together
- Shape what collective next steps the group wants to take (degoogling sessions, further discussions, skillshares...)
- Return to human connection as a fundamental part of resistance itself
