The General Union (Le Syndicat général) is a labour union for all workers across Montreal! Whether you’re a member of a union and want to better understand your rights, or are wanting to unionize your workplace, The General Union has your back! 💪

Building worker power

The General Union has supported workers and workplaces in industries such as hospitality, education, and will soon break into the healthcare sector. They operate from a core belief that all workers are entitled to a system where they can use their voice and be heard - a system that aligns with principles of democracy, transparency, and engagement. For this reason, they offer workers rights trainings and workshops as a way to inform, activate, and define the steps toward union involvement or even union creation.

Their doors are open to workers with different levels of knowledge and experience and across different kinds of workplaces—from self-employed workers and small teams to workers in larger organizations. The goal is to equip people with the tools, tactics, and resources they need to build worker power.
